Model Stand

BaD Ship Models included a templates for the creation of a model stand.  I used these templates to make a stand from Oak.

The hull construction

Here is how the hull for this project started it's life as a CG-47 USS Ticonderoga hull from BaD Ship Models

Before starting to build the framework, layout the plans and the cut plywood parts for reference. The parts in my kit were well marked.

Roger's Notes:  The step numbers are included only to give organization to the hull assembly process.

Remove all the "fuzz" from the plywood parts used to fame up the hull.

Using the diagram in the instruction manual, lay out straight line (pencil line drawn on the board as a reference) on your building board. Locate the locations of the spacer blocks as identified in the diagram.

Using the diagram in the instruction manual, make 9 spacer blocks.  After you construct these blocks, pin them to your reference line.

Roger's Notes:  I had extra balsa stock to use to make the spacers.  Material for this is not included in the kit.   It is very important to ensure that the spacers are securely secured to your building board.  These will help to counter any warps in the plywood parts.
