Hi Everyone,

I’m Rick Caceres, and I’m a retired Master Chief Petty officer.  I retired in 1998 as Command Master Chief of the USS Mitscher DDG-57. I now reside in Covington Georgia.

First of all, I want to thank my dear friend Roger Harper for this wonderful web site. Any modeler who just looks at the pictures here owes him a huge debt. This site is the best of it’s kind on the web. If you want to know about model shipbuilding and R/C, Roger is the standard by which others measure their success. Besides, he’s my buddy. Roger is THE MAN!

Ok, I served on many ships in 22 years in the Navy. I may one day build a model of each ( I hear Roger in the background laughing at me). All I need is time. Even thou I’m retired from the Navy, I still work full time at GE as an engineer, and I have a wife I am duly obligated to love an entertain.

I served on the USS Tacoma PG 92, USS Briscoe DD 977, PBR’ at special boats, USS Antrim FFG-20, USS Halyburton FFG-40, USS Taylor FFG-50, USS Barry DDG-52and USS Mitscher, DDG-57. By far, my favorite ships are the FFG’s, but to fight a battle, the Arleigh Burke DDG is the meanest ship afloat, bar none.

I am currently building the USS Constitution by Revell. It’s the large scale one. It’s an OK kit, I’ll do the wooden kit next. I love OLD IRONSIDES. She never lost a battle. How cool is that!?

I built the 1/32 Lindberg PT109 kit and tried to R/C it and got BAD rudder and motor fluctuation. I’m waiting for roger to build his so I can finish mine. I’m sooooo lazy!

I also love PT boats because my hero of all time was Admiral John Duncan Bulkeley. I could fill a main frame on his accomplishments. If you like PT boats, you owe it to yourself to read " The Seawolf", it’s the story of the greatest Naval hero in modern time, John Bulkeley. Also, watch the movie Starring Robert Montgomery and John Wayne, " They were Expendable" Also about Admiral Bulkeley. I plan to also build the Dumas 48" and 33" inch version of the PT boat. Can’t say enough about those mosquito boats.
