We all the Orca is from the movie Jaws™.
Jesse Thompson
sent me some of
his pictures of of the Orca models he is building.
Jesse has built a couple model Orca's (
both are pictured below) and also he is currently constructing a
full size 45 foot version of the boat!!!
The first of the two Orca models is the Finished one.
The Finished one is the first model boat
Jesse ever built and he states, "aint perfect due to my lack
of modeling experience, but it did just sell on ebay for $789.57 so
I guess somebody liked it". It was built from scratch using only a
few accessories (wheels, prop ect..) he picked up on ebay. The model
measures over 32" (39'LOA).
Jesse tells me that the unfinished
Orca he is working on now is shaping up to be much better than the
first one he built. This model is also being built from scratch using no plans and
is 34"
(41"LOA) and has a better overall look than the first one. It is being built with a different design than he
used with the first one and will have all the bells and whistles.
He recently added the pulpit railing and the barrel runners. Both
railings are made of steel and wrapped in tiny rope. The steering
wheels are both custom made along with every other piece on the
boat.
The full scale
Orca 4 photo's below are a bit out of date. Two of the photo's show
her right after he removed her old cabin and one shows the cabin
framing in place. When viewing these you may have to zoom

the photo in close to
see the Orca window framing as the photo's are low resolution.
The other picture shows the boat from behind and again is not that
great of quality because it was taken in the snow.
Though these pictures below are outdated and do not show all that Jesse
has currently done to his Orca. Thus far Jesse has got the
side cabin framing up fore and aft, the back cabin wall framing, the
roof, new prop shaft installed, front cabin windows built and all
plywood walls in place all the way around. Jesse is only about
$8000 away from having her complete. He still needs to widen
her hull about 9 inches along with a bunch of other cosmetic things,
but he's getting there.
Jesse sent me some links to his websites. These are included below.
One is a yahoo groups site and the other is regular yahoo website.
Please be aware that while both websites are active Jesse told me
that they are in the process of being overhauled. As a matter of
fact, Jesse is going to be moving to an completely new location very
soon. You can still view the full scale Orca 4 along with some
other stuff.
