Windshield
You will need the parts
illustrated in your manual to complete this sub-assembly. The
die-cut parts are in Bag Number Three (#3). The wood strip is in
Bag Number Two (#2).
Lay the plan
drawing of the windshield on your building board and cover it
with plastic wrap. (I used wax paper)
Use push-pins to
pin the die-cut windshield parts in position on the plan.
Roger's Notes:
Use the
push-pins to hold the parts, as explained in Step #152.
Using the
windshield drawing as a guide, cut the upright parts of the
windshield frame from one 3/32" x 5/16" x 24" basswood strip.
Use
push-pins to hold these parts in position on the
plan. Then apply CA to all of the joints.
Roger's Notes:
I used a
Miter Cut Precision
Wood Cutting Tool from Fourmost
to cut the strips.

Cabin Roof Hatch
You will need
the parts illustrated in your manual to complete this
sub-assembly. The basswood strip is in Bag Number Two (#2). The
mahogany hatch is in Bag Number Five (#5).
Using a pencil
and ruler, mark the location of the hole for the cabin roof
hatch (dashed lines on the plan) on the cabin roof. Cut through
these lines with an X -Acto®
® knife.
Cut the hatch
frame parts from the 1/16" x 1/8" x 8" basswood strip. Use Slow
CA to glue these parts flush with the edge of the hole.
Use a sanding
block to round off the upper edges of the hatch, as shown. Then,
place the hatch aside. It will not be needed again until the
boat is painted.
